DRILL & BLAST ENGINEER



JOB DESCRIPSION:

1. Create and review drill pattern designs, charging plans and tie-in designs to ensure safe and qualitative execution can be carried out in the field

2. Provide technical support and guidance to drill and blast operations

3. Developing best practice systems, tools and techniques to improve drill and blast functionality

4. Managing drill and blast data integrity, explosive inventory and consumables management

5. Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects

6. Work with contractors to ensure optimisation of blasts

7. Tasked with creating the master designs



REQUIRMENT:

1. A Bachelor of Mining Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification

2. Experience more than 3 years

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

• Facilitate Health and Safety requirements for Power Generation personnel.

• Assist Superintendent to ensure power production and KPI targets are achieved.

• Monitor maintenance performance within the power generation section to ensure appropriate maintenance standards are achieved.

• Sponsor all power generation projects as required.

• Assist and manage power generation staffing as required.

• Facilitate power generation operational training requirements.

• Ensure site standards are maintained.

• Ensure all security standards are maintained.



Major challenges:

• Direct Manage the Coal Fired Power Station and Diesel Power Station to achieve the KPI targets.

• Optimise power generation for all operational scenarios.

• Develop operational systems to ensure minimal variance from target.

• Maintaining a well-trained and motivated operations work force.

• Increasing the plant Standards to OH & S compliant.



PERSONAL COMPETENCIES



Prerequisite

• Bachelor Technical Engineer.

• Minimum of 10 years experience in boiler, turbine power station.

• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.

• Formal people management training.

• Formal safety management training.

• Experience in the following areas of importance:

1. Power generation and high voltage distribution.

2. Coal fired and diesel fired power station operation.



Desirable

• Formal project management training.

• Sound Computer skills.

• Synchronising generators manually.

• Power station maintenance experience in coal and diesel fired power stations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assist Planning Engineers to generate designs for Pits, Dumps and Haul Roads and other mining structures in a timely manner.

• Monitor the performance drainage systems/environmental controls around the mine site and report on their condition on a regular basis.

• Monitor the condition of haul roads and make recommendations on how/when to make improvements.

• Assist operations supervision with the execution of Designs.

• Fill in for Planning and Drill and Blast engineers as required.

MINE SUPERINTENDENT



JOB DESCRIPSION:



Mine Superintendent Job Description and Duties consists of 9 main points:

1. Plans and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in extracting ores or rocks from surface mines, pits, or quarries.

2. Reviews data, such as maps, survey reports, and geological records, and confers with engineering, maintenance, and supervisory personnel to plan and direct mine development.

3. Calculates mining or quarrying operational costs, estimates potential income, and instructs Pit Supervisor (mine & quarry) to abandon or open mine sections, pits, or other working areas.

4. Studies maps and blueprints to determine location for haulageways, access roads, ventilation shafts, rail tracks, and conveyor systems.

5. Studies land contours and rock formations, and specifies locations to install pillars, timbers, and roof bolts, and use of equipment for cutting, drilling, blasting and loading minerals.

6. Reads mining laws and safety regulations, and issues directives to workers to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.

7. Reviews and consolidates records, such as ore grade, air quality, safety reports, and production records.

8. Tours and inspects mine to detect and resolve production, equipment maintenance, safety, atmospheric, and personnel problems.
