Web Developer (Home based)

Remuneration:

Junior Web Programmer RP 4,000 - 6,000K (NEGOTIABLE)
Senior Web Programmer RP 6,000 - 10,000K (NEGOTIABLE)

A preview of your job scope (web developer):

• You must be able to work independently to develop websites from ground up (don’t worry if you’re not too good with design, as we have designers for that). This means, you must be able to stitch together a functional website, with say a CMS, database, Ecommerce modules , together with other functions like galleries or forums. You should be able to integrate these modules together.
  
• You will be working together with our web designers (as such there will be not be much creative / designing work involved), and will be involved primarily in the development of websites.
  
• You should have experience working with open source solutions (wordpress, joomla, drupal, interspire or others). You must be able to implement/ install a CMS to existing or new websites.
  
• You should be very familiar with databases. You will be required to independently setup database driven websites for clients.
  
• You should have experience with payment solutions and shopping carts. You will be required to independently integrate / install payment solutions into existing websites (e.g. shopping carts)
  
• You should be very proficient in php. You may be required to edit and customize 3rd party off-the-shelf or open-source scripts for our own use. (such as vbulletin, ibp, etc)

Basic requirements:

Web Developer specific:

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or related field with at least 4-8 years working experience in web development / programming
  
• Strong fundamentals in Web Programming for Dynamic Websites, PHP, JSP, Javascript, mySQL, Ajax.
  
• Advantageous if you are strong or have experience in ASP, ASP.net, have experience programming custom web applications, etc
  
• Advantageous if you are familiar with web2.0 technologies, such as facebook connect, Clearspring, Gigya, AIR, wordpress MU.
  

General:

• Efficient with the capability to handle multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines
  
• Strong portfolio – please list down in your resume the URLs of websites that you have worked on before, and the role you played.
  
• Good English communication skills – we will communicate mainly through skype & msn. You must be able to converse in English.
  
• Possess stable broadband connection at home, owns a computer and has STABLE internet and power supply.

ADDITIONAL EXPERTISE THAT IMPRESS US (web developer):

• You are able to develop web applications and have experience with server-side application design and implementation.
• You are able to independently create web2.0 applications & solutions from the ground up, with input from our team of web designer & developers.
• You have experience with portal development or social network development
  
• You are familiar with web2.0. applications and platforms (think www.killerstartups.com)
  
• You have solid background in server-side programming languages and expert knowledge of database management – especially in the areas of high volume websites.
  
• You spend your free time on creating mash-ups, fiddle with Yahoo pipes, and familiar with APIs.

We have an opening for a Senior Web Developer

This position is all about handling open source CMS development and the customization and integration of modules. You will be working mostly with systems like Joomla, Drupal and Magento; this means you will need very solid skills with PHP and mySQL. We are concerned with web standards, best practices, usability and accessibility. A good candidate for this position has at least 5 years relevant experience and a professional portfolio of project work. This is a fast-paced position and you will stay busy, though you will not need to worry about client contact, as you will always work with a team leader (project manager). This is a great position for someone with good programming skills and a desire to learn and keep up with the latest open source systems.

Qualified candidates will earn between 5,000,000 – 7,000,000 per month (plus performance bonuses), depending on the quantity and quality of work delivered per month.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years experience with PHP development
  
• Candidate must have good English skills and be able to read and understand briefs prepared in English.
  
• Experience with web development for common open-source frameworks and platforms such as Joomla, Drupal, Magento and Wordpress.
  
• Experience with Drupal is required.
  
• Experience with custom Drupal Module development a plus.
  
• Excellent PHP skills are required.
  
• Experience with AJAX, JavaScript and jQuery an advantage.
  
• Candidate must be fast learner and must be able to work very well as a team player.
  
• Able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
