The University established in 1957 as a private university under the name of University of Semarang. In 1960 its status and name changed intu state university under the name Diponegoro University. Undip supported by 11 faculties and also provided vocational program (Diploma III and Diploma IV). Diponegoro University now operated 43 undergraduate programs, 28 master programs, and 9 different doctoral programs. In 2011, Undip ranked 601+ in world calss university ranking.
